Speedzone louisiana: History of Dr. White's Race cars

We can buff out that scratch. Well maybe not. This was Dr. White's 2nd corvette and first big mistake. He lost control in turn 1 at NPR in June of 2003. While coming off the drag strip into the chicane at turn one at around 100mph on the last lap at about 5mph faster than the previous 20 laps. The back end tried to come out, he compensated for the breaking loose of the rear end and regained control for about 2 seconds. Then he had to finish the chicane. The rear end came out in the other direction and all four tires broke loose sliding at a forty five until hitting the sandy grass. He thinks that he could have saved it if he had about 10 more feet of asphalt. The soft ground straighten the car nose first into the wall. He said, I could only think that this was going to hurt, as the car approached the wall in slow motion. When the car hit the wall, the wall broke loose from it's mounting flipped and moved about six feet. After this accident NPR moved the wall about 250 feet back. He was not the first nor the last to loose it in turn one and the wall was too close to the turn.

We like NPR because when they find a problem they fix them. Turn one now has the wall moved back about 250 feet and curbing that let's you straighten turn one out enough that in a good car and a decent driver you don't have to lift through the turn now (of course this is dependant on the car type).

Dr. White's 3rd corvette. He though this was a great handleing car until he bought his next car, then he found out the truth.

This is Dr. White 328 GTS Ferrari. The Ferrari is a 1986 in pristine shape. This was the car that Magnum PI drove in the TV series. The car is a mid engine v8 that handles and drives like a dream. This is what a car should feel and handle like so when you get into trouble the car can help out instead of cause more problems. Dr. White raced this car for about a year before going into Formula 500.
